Reusable rockets have dramatically reduced the costs of space travel and launching payload into space. 

However, an alternative to rockets, the concept of a space elevator, is gaining attention lately. It involves a tether extending from Earth to space, with climbers transporting payloads. 

This idea dates back to the 19th century, but challenges like finding the right material and costs for the tether have held it back.

While challenges remain, space elevators could potentially make space travel even more accessible and environmentally friendly in the future, and open up for more accessible microgravity production.
