German researchers are working on genetically engineering pigs that could help save countless lives. The new breed of pigs will provide organs for human transplantation and the first generation is expected soon. 

And the german researchers are not alone - the race to provide organs for xenotransplantations is on after the first successful attempts made recently. Not long ago we saw news about a successful transplantation of a pig heart to a human, and before that the first ever successful pig-to-human kidney transplant.
