Scientists have used lettuce to create insulin for diabetes treatment, which could replace painful injections. This plant-based insulin, given as a pill, regulated blood sugar levels in mice effectively. Unlike traditional insulin, it survives stomach acids and could be a more affordable option. 

The researchers plan to test it in dogs and, if successful, in humans, potentially transforming diabetes treatment globally.
