3D printing has enabled the creation of a wide range of objects, from rockets to houses and even mouse ovaries and organoids - small mini-organs.

We have recently started seeing how scientists are applying this technology to print living neural networks - brains that mature and communicate like real brains do.

These mini-brains could potentially offer an alternative to animal testing in drug trials and studies of basic brain function.

This could also pave the way for and advance the field of biocomputing.

Biocomputing uses lab-grown brain tissue to build computers, offering a some amazing range of possibilities in the future.
