Did you know we can store 215 petabytes (215,000,000 gigabytes) of data in 1 gram of DNA? Imagine if we could use DNA as data storage alongside existing technologies.

The possibilities and opportunities of storing data in DNA, are endless. DNA data storage has many advantages over existing technologies for storing data since the data will last for centuries, DNA can hold huge amounts of data and can be copied endlessly for free. And it works - nature and all living things are already using the technology.

Scientist are working on making the process of storing data in DNA efficient, scalable and cheap - and progress is being made. If they succeed, we might need to rethink the way we store data in the future.
