Imagine metals that can heal themselves. Scientists accidentally discovered that certain metals can self-heal by fusing cracks on a tiny scale. 

This process, called cold welding, happens when defects in the metal's structure move under pressure, allowing it to mend. 

Although it won't have an immediate impact, this finding could lead to stronger and longer-lasting structures in the future, such as bridges and engines, saving time and money by reducing frequent replacements.
